The Introduction to Small Water Systems Correspondence Course was developed by Skeet Arasmith in cooperation with Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation to provide owners and operators of small public water systems a basic understanding of the principles and practices involved with collecting, treating, storing and distributing safe drinking water.

The course and materials are focused on communities with a population of less than 3,300. This course incorporates information on hypochlorinators, fluoride saturators, greensand filters, pressure filters, low pressure boilers, piping, fire hydrants, safety and regulations as they pertain to rural and urban systems.

The 487 page textbook containing over 500 graphics was designed using a unique format that allows the user to quickly and easily find specific pieces of information.

Entry level through level II operators at any size treatment or distribution facility will find the material helpful.

Each lesson begins with a brief list of the course objectives and a concise list of keywords that are used in the lesson. This is followed by the main content and concluded with a worksheet.

The correspondence course uses the student manual and a 108 page participants guide. The participants guide contains directions for completing the course, along with answers to lesson worksheets and lesson tests.

A course is completed by reading through each lesson, answering questions and checking your answers. Then, complete a multiple choice test and send to ACR Publication where it will be graded and your results returned to you.

The Introduction to Small Wastewater Systems Correspondence Course was developed by Skeet Arasmith and Holly Ploetz in cooperation with Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation to provide owners and operators of small public wastewater systems a basic understanding of the principles and practices involved with collecting, treating, and disposing of wastewater and solids in a safe and effective manner.

This course and materials are focused on communities with a population of less than 3,300. This course incorporates information on Arctic collection systems, package treatment plants, disinfection systems and safety considerations as they pertain to rural and urban communities.

The 531 page textbook containing over 490 graphics was designed using a unique page layout. This layout allows the user to quickly and easily find specific pieces of information.

All information needed for OIT and level I WWT and WWC exams are contained in this course. However, entry level through level II operators at any treatment or collection facility of any size will find this material valuable.
